UAE and Italy Explore Parliamentary Cooperation on Climate and Environment


Abu dhabi: Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence, Interior, and Foreign Affairs Committee at the Federal National Council (FNC), engaged in discussions with Jacopo Morrone, President of the Italian parliamentary Bicameral Ecomafia Commission on climate and environment, to explore ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation.



According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting, attended by FNC members, focused on bilateral relations between the UAE and Italy. Both parties deliberated on how to further develop these relations to serve mutual interests, particularly in the sectors of climate, environment, and sustainable development.



The dialogue included an exchange of views on key regional and international developments. The importance of strengthening cooperation in parliamentary diplomacy was underscored, highlighting its complementary role to political diplomacy in facilitating dialogue and mutual understanding among peoples, as well as coordinating positions on issues of shared concern.



Dr. Al Nuaimi pointed out that UAE-Italy relations exemplify cooperation based on mutual respect and shared interests. He affirmed that developing channels of parliamentary communication aids in supporting strategic partnerships between the two countries and enhances parliamentary coordination in regional and international forums.



He further remarked that the UAE maintains a policy focused on promoting the values of tolerance, coexistence, and respect for cultural and religious diversity, which are considered fundamental pillars for achieving sustainable development and societal stability.



Both parties stressed that the UAE and Italy share a solid common ground rooted in supporting the pillars of peace, security, and stability at both regional and international levels. They emphasized the importance of strengthening joint efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, driven by both countries’ belief in the necessity of international cooperation to consolidate global security and peace.
