UAE Delegation to Participate in High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in New York

New york: The United Arab Emirates delegation is set to participate in the 2025 United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development, which will be organized by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs at the UN Headquarters in New York. The event will serve as a platform for the UAE to demonstrate its comprehensive development model and reaffirm its commitment to advancing the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through multinational collaborations.

According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE delegation will concentrate on five priority goals: ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all ages (Goal 3), achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls (Goal 5), promoting sustained economic growth and employment opportunities (Goal 8), conserving marine resources (Goal 14), and strengthening global partnerships (Goal 17).

The delegation comprises members from various sectors, including the UAE's National Committee on Sustainable Development Goals, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Investment, Government Experience Exchange Programme, Dubai Chamber of Commerce, Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, and Noor Dubai Foundation, coordinated by the UAE's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.

Abdullah Nasser Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange and Chair of the National Committee on Sustainable Development Goals, stated that the UAE's participation underscores its international commitment to the 2030 SDGs, focusing on innovation, technology, and smart governance. He highlighted the significance of enhancing global partnerships in knowledge and development exchange.

On the sidelines of the HLPF, the UAE delegation plans to organize a global retreat to address current challenges and explore future opportunities. They will also hold an exhibition to showcase the UAE's progress in implementing the SDGs locally and globally, focusing on initiatives in clean energy, digital transformation, education, and healthcare.

In preparation for the forum, the National Committee on the SDGs conducted an extensive meeting to evaluate the readiness of the delegation and review the progress on SDG implementation. The meeting also explored opportunities for expanding international cooperation and signing new agreements during the forum.

The 2025 HLPF will be held under the theme 'Reinforcing sustainable, inclusive, and evidence-based solutions to deliver the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, leaving no one behind.' The event will run from July 14 to 23, 2025, with 37 countries presenting their voluntary national reviews on progress toward achieving the SDGs.
