Manama: The UAE, represented by the Federal National Council Parliamentary Division, participated in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly’s (APA) Standing Committee Meeting on Economic and Sustainable Development in Manama. This event, which brings together various Asian nations to deliberate on critical regional issues, will conclude on 16th September 2025.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting agenda includes seven draft resolutions that address significant topics such as the establishment of an Asian energy market, tackling environmental issues, promoting economic growth, eradicating poverty, and the role of the APA in supporting the implementation of sustainable development goals. Discussions will also cover water and sanitation issues in Asian countries as well as climate finance initiatives.
Fatima Ali Al Muhairi, Deputy Chair of the FNC Parliamentary Division, highlighted the UAE’s commitment to sustainable economic development. She emphasized the country’s balanced approach that integrates economic growth, environmental protection, and improved quality of life. Al Muhairi noted that the UAE has adopted national strategies for green development and economic diversification, which aim to position the country as a global hub for trade, investment, and innovation. The UAE is also focused on implementing renewable energy projects and aiding developing countries in the areas of clean energy and food security.
