Abu Dhabi:The United Arab Emirates has successfully mediated the exchange of 540 captives between Russia and Ukraine, with 270 captives released from each side. This development marks a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to address the conflict between the two countries.
According to Wam, this recent exchange brings the total number of captives exchanged through UAE-mediated efforts to 8,537. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of the UAE commended both Russia and Ukraine for their cooperation and appreciation of the UAE's role as a trusted international mediator.
The Ministry highlighted that this successful mediation, the 27th of its kind, reflects the strong relations between the UAE, the Russian Federation, and Ukraine. It also reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict and alleviating the humanitarian impact of the ongoing crisis.
