Dubai: The UAE Olympic Committee Board of Directors convened at its Dubai headquarters, chaired by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the Committee, to deliberate on topics concerning international participation, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence implementation, as well as governance and Olympic Solidarity grants and membership affairs.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting was attended by key figures including Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports, Vice President of the UAE Olympic Committee, and Chairman of the Executive Office; Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of the Committee; alongside other members of the NOC Board of Directors. The Board analyzed technical and administrative reports on the UAE's recent international engagements, particularly the UAE's performance in the Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, where the country ranked first among Arab nations and seventh overall.
The Board also reviewed the UAE's achievement in the 4th GCC Games in Doha, where national teams won a total of 66 medals, including 13 gold, 19 silver, and 34 bronze. The discussion extended to the UAE's upcoming participation in significant multi-sport events slated for 2026, such as the 20th Asian Games in Japan, the Youth Olympic Games in Senegal, and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Saudi Arabia.
Additionally, the Board considered legal aspects concerning membership affairs and institutional recognition, alongside its digital transformation and AI agenda. They received a presentation on the Committee's vision for integrating generative AI technologies, including Agentic AI, and discussed the mechanisms necessary for this implementation.
The session included a briefing on the proposal for establishing the UAE House during the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games and examined the logistical, financial, and protocol requirements associated with it. The decision to postpone the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation elections until September 2026 was also reviewed, along with updates on the Central Elections and Appeals Committee's activities.
Furthermore, the Board discussed the process through which sports federations can request preparatory training camps for international events, evaluating the criteria and conditions governing such requests. The meeting concluded with a presentation on corporate governance and financial support for Olympic Solidarity grants, emphasizing compliance and performance.
The Board acknowledged the International Olympic Committee's approval of recent amendments to the UAE National Olympic Committee's Statutes, ratified at the Committee's General Assembly meeting on 16 February.
