Washington: The UAE announced a further US$1.2 billion for supporting Gaza through the Board of Peace. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced the contribution during his participation in the first meeting of the Board of Peace held in Washington under the chairmanship and invitation of US President Donald Trump.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting brought together a distinguished group of heads of state, senior officials, and international decision-makers as part of a coordinated effort to activate peace frameworks, support reconstruction pathways, and develop sustainable approaches that enhance long-term stability in the region.
Sheikh Abdullah's participation in the meeting came at the start of a working visit to the United States of America, reflecting the depth of the strategic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the United States, and the shared commitment of both sides to strengthening international efforts aimed at consolidating the foundations of regional security and stability.
In his address to the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah expressed gratitude to President Trump for convening the gathering and expressed hopes that the beginning of Ramadan would guide efforts towards peace, coexistence, and prosperity. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts initiated by the Abrahamic Accords and highlighted the UAE's ongoing support for Gaza, amounting to almost US$3 billion since the conflict began.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah announced the UAE's additional commitment of US$1.2 billion for Gaza, emphasizing the collaborative work with key figures like Steve and Jared, and Secretary Rubio. He praised President Trump's support in facilitating the Board of Peace and previous efforts to gather regional leaders to end the conflict.
The meeting was attended by notable UAE officials, including Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the US.
