UAE Staunchly Rejects Iranian Allegations at BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

New delhi: Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, participated in the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting held in New Delhi, India, where he firmly rejected Iran's allegations and attempts to justify attacks on the UAE and other regional countries. These acts, according to Al Marar, represent a clear violation of the UN Charter, international law, and principles of good neighborliness.

According to Emirates News Agency, Al Marar emphasized the UAE's rejection of any threats to its sovereignty, national security, or decision-making, asserting the country's rights to respond to threats legally, diplomatically, and militarily. He reiterated that coercion or malicious claims would not alter the UAE's commitment to its national interests and sovereignty.

Al Marar highlighted that since February 28, 2026, the UAE has faced numerous Iranian attacks, intercepting approximately 3,000 involving missiles and drones targeting civilian and crucial infrastructure. Despite global condemnations, Iran has persisted in its actions, disregarding international consensus and resolutions, including UN Security Council Resolution 2817 and a Human Rights Council resolution denouncing the attacks.

He referenced key international resolutions condemning Iran's actions, including those by the International Maritime Organisation and the International Civil Aviation Organisation, which criticized Iran's threats to civil aviation safety and sovereignty violations. The International Maritime Organization's Marine Environment Protection Committee and the International Telecommunication Union's Council also condemned these attacks, highlighting the international community's rejection of such actions.

Al Marar noted Iran's obstruction of maritime routes, specifically the Strait of Hormuz, and its impact on regional stability and global energy security. He affirmed the UAE's capability to deter aggression and its commitment to defending its sovereignty as per the UN Charter.

The UAE holds Iran accountable for the attacks and stresses the importance of respecting state sovereignty, ending attacks, and adhering to international law for sustainable stability.
