UAE’s International Charity Organisation Delivers Iftar Meals to 600 Villages

Abu dhabi: The International Charity Organisation (ICO) announced that its Ramadan 'Iftar' initiative successfully reached over 600 villages in several Muslim countries, distributing 225,000 iftar meals and more than 16,000 food parcels during the first half of Ramadan.

According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Khaled Al Khaja, Secretary-General of the organisation, stated that the project reflects the UAE's commitment to humanitarian support. He mentioned that field teams and overseas offices have been actively working from the start of Ramadan to ensure timely and respectful delivery of aid to those in need.

Dr. Al Khaja highlighted the expansion of the project this year to include more beneficiaries, addressing increasing humanitarian needs in various countries. The initiative also focused on aiding workers within the UAE and supporting low-income families.

He emphasized that the program operates through coordinated mechanisms with relevant authorities in the beneficiary countries to ensure efficient delivery and compliance with local regulations and humanitarian standards. A field monitoring system is in place to evaluate performance and assess impact.

The organisation is also engaged in other Ramadan and humanitarian activities, such as Zakat distribution, Eid clothing support, and assistance for urgent humanitarian cases. Additionally, they are involved in development projects like constructing mosques, schools, homes, health centers, and drilling wells.

Dr. Al Khaja expressed gratitude to donors and benefactors from both inside and outside the UAE, whose contributions have allowed the organisation to assist millions of beneficiaries. He urged continued support for the remainder of Ramadan.
