Kampala: A bus full of schoolchildren returning from a trip veered off the road in Uganda, resulting in the tragic death of 20 children and one adult, as confirmed by the police on Friday.
According to Emirates News Agency, the bus was on its way back from a school trip to Sipi Falls in Kapchorwa District when it veered off the road. Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The bus then struck a large stone along the roadside and overturned.
In a statement shared on X, the police detailed the sequence of events leading to the accident and are continuing to investigate the cause of the driver's loss of control. The tragic incident has raised concerns about road safety and the condition of the vehicles used for transporting schoolchildren in the region.
