Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that his country has imposed a package of sanctions against Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. This development was shared by Zelenskyy through a statement on the US social media platform X.
According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is committed to intensifying countermeasures against Lukashenko’s support of actions detrimental to Ukrainians. He stated the intention to collaborate with international partners to ensure the sanctions have a broad global impact. Zelenskyy also highlighted that Russia had established relay stations in Belarus last year, enhancing its military capability to launch strikes on Ukraine’s northern regions, including Kyiv.
Zelenskyy argued that Russia’s attacks on Ukraine have been facilitated by Belarus, citing the deployment of the Oreshnik missile system and Belarusian enterprises’ support in supplying critical components to Russia. He described this as a significant threat not only to Ukrainians but also to Europeans.
Zelenskyy further accused Lukashenko of aiding Russia in bypassing global sanctions, supporting the continuation of the armed conflict, and increasing his involvement in the war’s escalation. As of now, Lukashenko has not publicly responded to Zelenskyy’s allegations.
