The Intelligence and Investigation Agency announced the dismantling of a human trafficking network and thwarting the sale of an infant in Dhi Qar.
A statement by the agency stated: "The intelligence agency's detachments were able to dismantle a human trafficking network and thwart the sale of a 9-month-old baby, in a tight ambush, and flagrante delicto, based on accurate intelligence information."
The statement added: "The network is run by two women who were arrested while trying to sell the child, and their statements were recorded and referred to the competent investigative authorities."
The Intelligence Agency called upon the citizens to report and provide information about outlaws by calling the free hotline 144.
