Abu dhabi: Major US indexes recorded sharp declines as investors braced for potential inflation spikes and broader economic impacts.
According to Emirates News Agency, the S and P 500 dropped 0.8% to close at 7,515.34. The Nasdaq Composite fell 1.55% to end at 25,873.18, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 138.37 points, or 0.26%, to 52,498.64.
Investors are closely monitoring economic indicators that could suggest rising inflation, which might lead to changes in monetary policy. The decline in major indexes reflects growing concerns about the stability of the economic recovery.
Market analysts suggest that these fluctuations might continue as more data becomes available and the Federal Reserve's response to inflationary pressures becomes clearer.
