Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Daren Tang met several officials during his visit to the Kingdom, which concluded today.
Tang's meetings with Saudi officials focused on enhancing cooperation and future partnerships between WIPO and the Kingdom.
The WIPO director met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP), Mohammed bin Abdul Malik Al Al-Sheikh, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah bin Amer Alswaha, Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih and Governor of Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority, Monsha'at, Sami bin Ibrahim Al-Husseini.
Also during the visit, the CEO of SAIP, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Swailem and the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Farid Al-Ghamdi, signed a memorandum of understanding with the WIPO director that aims at developing human resources through joint master's programs in intellectual property and entrepreneurship.
SAIP and NEOM also announced the signing of a letter of intent with WIPO on developing initiatives to enhance the intellectual property system to support innovation and creativity in the future.
SAIP and WIPO also signed a memorandum of understanding to enable and support alternative solutions to settle intellectual property disputes and implement conciliation and arbitration options in intellectual property to improve rights enforcement procedures and reduce the burdens on judicial authorities.
