In its editorial titled "Supporting Lebanon," Al-Watan newspaper said that, in implementation of the directives of HH the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, a team from the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) arrived in Beirut, Lebanon, to provide urgent humanitarian aid and relief .The newspaper affirmed that the State of Qatar has consistently supported Lebanon and stood by its brotherly people, driven by its firm belief in the importance and necessity of joint Arab action. Qatar has also supported the Lebanese army with 70 tons of food supplies monthly for a year, amid difficult economic conditions exacerbated by the current Israeli aggression, which has caused significant loss of life and infrastructure, and forced over a million people to flee their homes.Al-Watan concluded by saying that Qatar firmly believes that a diplomatic solution is the only way to avoid further killing and destruction. It also believes that the international community m ust make every possible effort to rein in Israel and force it to stop its aggression, whether against Lebanon, Gaza, or the Palestinian territories. Only through negotiations can security be restored to the region.In turn, The Peninsula newspaper said that Qatar has been at the forefront of global efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people who have been subjected to a brutal military campaign by Israel over the past 12 months. It noted that while Qatar has led the efforts for ceasefire and de-escalation, it has also been active in delivering and facilitating humanitarian assistance.The newspaper said in its editorial entitled "Standing by Palestine, Lebanon" that Qatar has also stood by Lebanon as it navigates one of the worst economic crises and is now subjected to deadly Israeli strikes. On the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Qatar has sent its International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) to Lebanon to provide urgent humanit arian aid and relief.Qatar Fund for Development last month announced a financial grant of $15m to support the Lebanese Army, allocated to secure fuel for three months. This initiative, QFFD said, reaffirms the fraternal relations between Qatar and Lebanon and reflects Qatars commitment to supporting Lebanons stability and its national institutions, The Peninsula added.The newspaper concluded by saying that in Palestine, Qatar has not only worked to achieve ceasefire and permanent peace based on two-state solution, it has been a leading advocate of humanitarian assistance for Palestinian refugees and civilians, especially in the Gaza Strip.Source: Qatar News Agency
