Sharjah: Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah, part of the Emirates Health Services (EHS), has announced the launch of the "Ultreon 3.0," the latest coronary angiography programme utilizing fourth-generation, high-resolution imaging technology with light and infrared light. This initiative marks a first in the Middle East and underscores SEHA's commitment to integrating advanced medical solutions to enhance diagnostic precision and cardiac care quality.
According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Arif Al-Nouriani, Executive Director and Head of the Heart Centre at Al Qassimi Hospital, emphasized that this new programme represents a significant advancement in diagnosing coronary artery disease. It provides the most advanced imaging accuracy available, using a combination of light and infrared radiation to deliver an exceptionally detailed view of artery structures. Notably, it allows imaging without contrast dye and completes the procedure in less than one second.
Dr. Al-Nouriani highlighted that the programme incorporates artificial intelligence technologies for enhanced data analysis. It accurately assesses arterial narrowing and measures physiological blood flow velocity, achieving approximately 82% accuracy compared to traditional methods. This comprehensive approach combines diagnostic imaging with functional analysis and can identify areas of fatty and calcified plaque buildup, revolutionizing the diagnosis of heart and coronary artery disease.
The Heart Centre at Al Qassimi Hospital has already treated two Emirati patients using the new programme, with initial results demonstrating high accuracy and efficiency levels. The programme aims to improve patient outcomes by reducing cardiac stent failure rates over both short and long terms, thereby positively affecting mortality rates and decreasing hospital readmissions. This is expected to support better patient health outcomes and enhance their quality of life.
The adoption of this state-of-the-art programme aligns with EHS's strategy to develop specialized and precise services by employing the latest medical innovations and smart technologies. This strategy strengthens the UAE's position in the healthcare sector and establishes it as a leading regional hub for high-quality healthcare services.
