Abu dhabi: Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, met with Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), in Abu Dhabi to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation in investment, particularly focusing on infrastructure and digital infrastructure.
According to Emirates News Agency, both leaders valued the evolving UAE-Africa relations, which have transitioned from mere friendship and cooperation into a model partnership characterized by mutual trust, respect, and collective efforts aimed at a prosperous future for their peoples. They underscored their commitment to strengthening these relations to support sustainable economic growth, which continues to make steady progress.
The importance of developing infrastructure projects was emphasized to facilitate trade and connect African markets, alongside boosting investment in digital transformation. The meeting also highlighted opportunities to enhance partnerships between the public and private sectors in the UAE and African countries.
In addition to cooperation in trade and investment, the discussion also covered regional developments, with both sides exchanging views on the serious repercussions of Iran's attacks targeting the UAE and other nations. They explored the impact of these actions on regional and international security and stability, as well as their effects on international maritime security, energy supplies, and the global economy.
