US Measles Cases Reach 35-Year High

Indonesia: The US has hit a 35-year high in measles cases, according to new figures from the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The country has reported 2,318 confirmed cases of measles in 2026, spanning across 45 states within just seven months. This number has already surpassed last year's total of 2,289 cases, which also saw the unfortunate deaths of two unvaccinated children due to the disease.

According to Emirates News Agency, out of the total cases this year, 2,302 have been reported across 45 US jurisdictions. Additionally, 16 cases were identified among international visitors to the country. The CDC noted that nearly 93% of the confirmed cases this year have involved individuals who were unvaccinated, highlighting a significant concern regarding vaccination uptake.
