Baku:Pope Leo XIV has successfully undergone surgery to remove the lower lobe of his right lung. This procedure followed a diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma, as announced by the Vatican on Tuesday.
According to Emirates News Agency, the 71-year-old pontiff was admitted to the hospital earlier in the day for the removal of a lung tumor discovered during a recent medical examination.
The Vatican reported that the operation lasted approximately 90 minutes and was completed without complications.
