Dubai:Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to open the final bridge of the World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project this Friday, October 30, 2026. The bridge, spanning 1,000 metres with two lanes, is designed to accommodate around 3,000 vehicles per hour, facilitating traffic from Al Majlis Street towards 2nd December Street.
According to Wam, the completion of this bridge marks the conclusion of all major works under the World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project. This includes the construction of five bridges with a combined length of 5,000 metres, at a total cost exceeding AED696 million.
The project aims to enhance traffic flow at one of Dubai’s critical intersections, reducing travel time from Al Majlis Street to 2nd December Street from six minutes to just one minute. Additionally, it transforms the former roundabout into an at-grade intersection, improving connectivity on Sheikh Zayed Road and between the emirate's major economic and commercial hubs.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, highlighted that the project will decrease average delays at the intersection from 12 minutes to 90 seconds, positively impacting over 500,000 residents and visitors. Moreover, the World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project complements the Al Mustaqbal Street Development Project, which is slated for completion in 2027, further enhancing the city's infrastructure.
The project includes several strategic components, such as a bridge at the second level towards Deira, two bridges connecting Sheikh Rashid Street with 2nd December Street, and two more bridges linking Al Majlis Street with 2nd December Street. These developments ensure smooth traffic flow in multiple directions, serving vital areas including the Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai International Financial Centre, Zaa'beel, Al Satwa, Al Karama, Al Jafiliya, and Al Mankhool.
