Dubai:Dubai Health has announced the launch of 'Yumnak,' a new initiative aimed at enhancing the quality of life and wellbeing of senior citizens. The initiative integrates health, social support, transportation, and housing services, thus expanding the City Makers programme initiated in 2014 under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
According to Emirates News Agency, the 'Yumnak' initiative is based on direct feedback from senior citizens to ensure that they can access the care and services they need to live independently. The launch event took place at Emirates Towers with the presence of key officials, including Abdulla Al Basti, Secretary General of The Executive Council of Dubai, and Dr. Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority.
The initiative provides a single point of contact at 800 588 for inquiries about services, follow-ups on requests, and booking of selected services. It offers a comprehensive network of services with contributions from multiple entities such as the Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, and Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment. Services include homecare, transportation for medical appointments, and social support through the Community Development Authority.
Yumnak aims to support senior citizens aged 60 and above, offering them integrated services to improve their quality of life. The programme was developed through workshops organized by City Makers, emphasizing a collaborative government approach to service design that places senior Emiratis at its core.
