Abu Dhabi Department of Energy Initiates Phase Two of LPG Safety Campaign

Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) has launched the second phase of its public awareness campaign aimed at promoting the safe and responsible use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) systems throughout the Emirate, coinciding with the start of the holy month of Ramadan.

According to Emirates News Agency, the campaign operates under the slogan “Your Safety is Our Priority” and seeks to increase awareness about the importance of following established standards and regulations to protect lives and property. During Ramadan, cooking activities at homes, restaurants, and kitchens see a significant increase as people prepare special meals. As a result, the campaign’s second phase intends to remind users of the necessity of safe LPG practices and promote a sense of shared responsibility by engaging with government and private sector stakeholders to deliver effective safety messages across Abu Dhabi.

The initiative targets various population segments that handle LPG systems, including laborers and domes
tic staff who frequently use gas, employers tasked with providing adequate training to related industry workers, such as those in restaurants and cafeterias, and companies involved in labor recruitment and placement.

Dr. Saif Saeed Al Qubaisi, Acting Director General of Regulatory Affairs at the Department of Energy, emphasized the DoE’s commitment to fostering a sustainable energy sector while ensuring a secure and healthy environment for all residents. He stated that community safety is paramount in all aspects of LPG handling and that the campaign aims to ensure adherence to safety protocols and standards, requiring ongoing collaboration with relevant parties to prevent accidents or hazards.

Eng. Ahmed Alsayed Mohamed Alsheebani, Acting Regulatory Affairs Petroleum Product Sector Executive Director at the DoE, highlighted the significance of the LPG Safety Campaign, particularly due to increased gas usage during Ramadan. He stressed the importance of comprehensive awareness workshops and training program
s for the campaign’s target audiences as key measures to mitigate gas utilization risks.

Alsheebani further noted that the campaign’s success depends not only on the awareness programs but also on the collective efforts of the community. He urged restaurants and employment agencies to provide appropriate training to workers, thereby promoting positive behavioral change and enhancing public safety.

The campaign includes distributing numerous awareness messages across various media outlets and social media platforms, encouraging Abu Dhabi residents to adopt safe gas usage practices at work and home to ensure their own and their families’ well-being.
