Istanbul: The Asian-African Parliamentary Council has urged the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is currently meeting in Istanbul, to take a definitive stance against the attacks orchestrated by Iran and its affiliated militias on the territories of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
According to Emirates News Agency, Saud Al-Hujailan, the First Vice President of the Council, emphasized that these attacks signify an unwarranted escalation and a blatant breach of international law and humanitarian norms. He highlighted that such actions pose a direct threat to the sovereignty, security, and stability of the affected states.
Al-Hujailan further stated that the council prioritizes strengthening Gulf unity in response to the ongoing regional developments. He underscored the necessity for a responsible international stance that promotes respect for sovereignty, adherence to international law, and supports initiatives aimed at de-escalation and the maintenance of international peace and security.
