Belgian Rider Wellens Wins Tour de France Stage 15, Pogacar Maintains Lead

Carcassonne: Tim Wellens raced clear on the descent toward Carcassonne to win the 15th stage of the Tour de France, while three-time champion Tadej Pogacar tightened his hold on the yellow jersey.

According to France24.com, Wellens, a teammate of Pogacar at UAE Team Emirates-XRG, was in a four-man leading group alongside Michael Storer, Quinn Simmons, and Victor Campeanaerts as they climbed the 2.9-kilometre, 10.2-percent incline Pas du Sant. Carlos Rodriguez, Warren Barguil, Aleks Vlasov, and Alexey Lutsenko were in pursuit, but Wellens waited for the trailing group to catch up before making his move.

With 43.5 kilometres remaining, Wellens launched his attack, capitalizing on the downhill section to gain an advantage that his rivals found challenging to counter. The strategic push helped Wellens secure a remarkable stage victory.

The Tour de France is set to conclude next weekend in Paris, where Pogacar will look to maintain his lead and potentially clinch another overall win.
