Cambridge Health Group and Heriot-Watt University Collaborate on GCC Healthcare Research Initiative

Dubai:Cambridge Health Group (CHG), a subsidiary of Amanat Holdings PJSC, has entered into a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Heriot-Watt University aimed at advancing academic research in the realms of rehabilitation, long-term care, and specialized care.

According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement leverages CHG's clinical expertise in long-term care and post-acute rehabilitation from six facilities in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, alongside Heriot-Watt University's cutting-edge research in healthy aging, rehabilitation robotics, and assistive technologies.

The collaboration will draw on Heriot-Watt's Global Research Institute in Health and Care Technologies and the National Robotarium to combine expertise in engineering, artificial intelligence, and behavioral science. This partnership seeks to tackle complex health and care challenges, facilitated by the university's global presence across five campuses in Scotland, Dubai, and Malaysia, with expansion plans in Saudi Arabia.

The initiative aims to merge research with clinical practice, fostering innovations that enhance rehabilitation, independence, and quality of life for individuals with complex, long-term care requirements. Additionally, the collaboration will pursue national and international research grants and engage with government and industry partners.

The partnership is also set to bolster the region's specialist healthcare workforce through academic training, executive education, and customized development programs. These initiatives will include postgraduate research supervision, internships, industry placements, and mentoring, effectively linking academic and practical learning.
