Manila:Cinfa, an international pharmaceutical company with nearly 60 years of experience, has officially launched its UAE Scientific Office. This marks the UAE as Cinfa's first localization hub outside of Spain, a significant step in the company's localization strategy following over a decade in the region.
According to Emirates News Agency, Cinfa's new hub will develop through a phased, partner-based model. This will include local scientific and regulatory capabilities, secondary packaging and batch release, and eventually, technology transfer and selected local manufacturing with local partners.
Franc Vives Ribera, Chief International Officer for Cinfa Group, emphasized the UAE's conducive environment for blending international expertise with national priorities to enhance healthcare capabilities. The Scientific Office aims to support the UAE's healthcare vision through scientific collaboration, local knowledge development, and a more integrated approach to making medicines readily available to patients.
The Scientific Office will enhance local capabilities in regulatory affairs, quality assurance, and pharmacovigilance. It aims to foster collaboration with authorities, healthcare institutions, and national stakeholders to exchange scientific and regulatory expertise, contributing to the UAE's long-term pharmaceutical capabilities.
The establishment of this office aligns with the UAE's goal to become a regional hub for life sciences and pharmaceutical innovation. National frameworks, such as UAE Vision 2031, emphasize building a competitive knowledge-based economy and strengthening industrial capabilities in critical sectors like healthcare.
Cinfa is adapting its approach to better meet local market needs by incorporating UAE requirements early in the development and regulatory process, allowing for earlier patient access to treatments. Since entering the Middle East in 2013, Cinfa has expanded throughout the region, offering over 100 product references and addressing prevalent diseases in the UAE.
