DIFC to Become World’s First AI-Native Financial Centre

Dubai: The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) announced its plans to become the world's first AI-Native financial centre by integrating artificial intelligence at the foundational level of its operations. This initiative will embed AI across legal frameworks, business environments, talent development, ecosystem infrastructure, and the district's physical urban fabric.

According to Emirates News Agency, DIFC aims to distinguish itself from other global financial centres by integrating AI into its core operations, rather than merely piloting it at the margins. This transformation will position DIFC as an AI role model for the finance industry, generating economic benefits estimated at US$3.5 billion (AED12.9 billion) and creating 25,000 jobs. DIFC's integration of AI will include AI governance software, advanced AI tools for financial firms, and physical AI components such as robotics and autonomous mobility.

Essa Kazim, Governor of DIFC, emphasized that this evolution marks a significant step in Dubai's growth as a global financial capital. The initiative aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and aims to establish new standards for innovation and competitiveness in financial services worldwide. Arif Amiri, CEO of DIFC Authority, highlighted the Centre's commitment to responsible AI governance and innovation.

DIFC will implement ethics and governance frameworks addressing both human and AI activities, aiming to become the top global destination for AI-in-finance companies. The Centre will support industry talent development through education and training programs, fostering collaboration between humans, AI, and robotics.

By 2030, DIFC plans to incorporate intelligent buildings, autonomous mobility, digital twins, and smart utilities into its infrastructure. These advancements will create a sensor-enabled city-within-a-city, enhancing energy efficiency and operational effectiveness.

Dubai's leadership in innovation, digital infrastructure, and regulatory agility underpins DIFC's transformation. As the leading financial hub in its region, DIFC hosts a robust ecosystem of financial and professional services providers. The Dubai AI Festival, highlighting DIFC's commitment to AI, will convene over 20,000 participants from more than 100 countries at the Dubai World Trade Centre in October 2026.
