Dubai:Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), in collaboration with gaming company Wild Unlimited, has announced the launch of "Dubai Developed in Fortnite 2033," a new interactive gaming experience. This initiative aims to bring Dubai's landmarks, culture, and destinations to a global audience through the popular game Fortnite.
According to Emirates News Agency, the gaming experience, independently developed by Wild Unlimited using Unreal Editor for Fortnite, allows players worldwide to explore a digital recreation of Dubai. The open-world, team-based environment features locations such as Al Fahidi Fort, Almas Tower, and Uptown Dubai. The experience includes exploration, competitive challenges, and team-based objectives, integrating iconic Dubai sites like Skydive Dubai, Deep Dive Dubai, and the American University in Dubai.
The project follows the Dubai Drop campaign launched on November 1, which introduced the initiative via social media and augmented reality experiences. The public can compete for prizes redeemable at the Wild Game Fest on November 11. The global launch includes a public event at SALT, Kite Beach, and marks the beginning of plans to expand Dubai's presence in interactive gaming environments.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, highlighted the project's role in showcasing Dubai's creative talent and ambition. Sam Shami, Founder and CEO of Wild Unlimited, emphasized the vision of creating a digital destination for millions of players to connect with Dubai through gaming.
The initiative also supports local gaming talent development through masterclasses at Uptown Dubai and the American University in Dubai, where students contributed to recreating their campus for the gaming experience. Sophie Boutros, Executive Director of the Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication, noted the impact of AUD's game design program in the growing gaming ecosystem.
The collaboration involves entities from Dubai's tourism, cultural, and commercial sectors, contributing to the emirate's appeal and tourism sector. The initiative aligns with the Dubai Program for Gaming 2033, supporting the growth of Dubai's gaming industry and digital economy under the vision of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
