The Mayor of the Capital, Hammoud Abbad, inspected today the implementation and installation of eight pipes to drain rainwater in Tahrir Square, the preparation, cleaning of torrential channels and sewers.
The Mayor of the Capital, along with the Director of the General Administration for the Maintenance of Torrential Sewers and Tunnels in the Municipality, Abdul Salam Mahawish and the Follow-up Abdul Halim Al-Sukari, were briefed on the works of installing pipes that extend from Tahrir Square to the water drainage channel on September 26th Street, and cleaning and removing dust.
Abbad, the director of maintenance of floods and tunnels, urged the workers to intensify efforts and speed up the completion of maintenance and rehabilitation work for the channels , sewers for draining water and rain torrents in the Tahrir area, and raising the level of their readiness before the start of the rainy season.
He stressed that these works, which are being carried out by the Capital Municipality, are within the framework of emergency solutions and treatments, in a way that contributes to the drainage of torrents, preventing their flow to shops and houses, and limiting any damage.
