Hamdan bin Zayed Emphasises UAE’s Commitment to Global Environmental Cooperation on World Environment Day

Abu Dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD), has highlighted the UAE leadership's commitment to advancing international cooperation and unifying global efforts to combat climate change. This statement, made on World Environment Day, underscores the UAE's role in ensuring a sustainable future for generations.

According to Emirates News Agency, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan remarked that the UAE serves as an inspiring global model by adopting pioneering environmental initiatives and innovative solutions, leading global efforts to tackle climate challenges. He emphasized that the nation's hosting of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) World Conservation Congress 2025 in Abu Dhabi is a significant milestone. This event, held under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will showcase the UAE's national achievements in the environmental sector and support global dialogue and initiatives aimed at addressing environmental challenges.

The congress reinforces the UAE's status as a key player in global nature conservation efforts, aligning with the UAE Centennial 2071 vision for sustainable development. World Environment Day, observed on Thursday, June 5, 2025, focuses on the theme "Putting an End to Plastic Pollution," highlighting the urgent need for global action on this pressing issue.
