Davos: H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), participated in a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum's 2026 programme in Davos. The session, titled 'Stories and Strength,' focused on the shaping of global narratives and the critical role of perception, trust, and storytelling in leadership across various sectors.
According to Emirates News Agency, the session took place at the Congress Centre in Davos and was broadcasted to a worldwide audience. It gathered international leaders and decision-makers from government, business, and civil society to discuss the power of narrative in fostering confidence, cooperation, and resilience. Among the distinguished participants were Maurice L©vy, Emeritus Chairman of Publicis Groupe, and Richard W. Edelman, CEO of Edelman, with Brendan Vaughan, Editor-in-Chief of Fast Company, moderating the session.
H.H. Sheikha Latifa emphasized that in a fragmented global environment, soft power is constructed through credibility and trust, rather than force. She highlighted that integrity, consistency, and authenticity are essential for sustaining trust. In today's world, where competing narratives abound, she pointed out that actions speak louder than words in building credibility.
Sheikha Latifa shared insights into the UAE's approach, which prioritizes practice over promotion and creates an inclusive environment for people from diverse backgrounds. She noted that the UAE hosts residents from 195 nationalities, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual respect. This inclusivity is guided by leadership that values understanding and diversity, making the UAE a model of cultural harmony.
Additionally, Sheikha Latifa highlighted culture and creativity as powerful connectors between societies, transcending borders and languages. She described curiosity as essential, fostering listening and understanding in an increasingly anxious and divided world.
Preserving heritage while embracing global openness is central to the UAE's identity, according to Sheikha Latifa. She stressed that the UAE's forward-thinking reputation is rooted in its cultural values and traditions, which contribute to a cohesive society where success is collectively celebrated.
Sheikha Latifa underscored that trust is built through action, not rhetoric, and that the UAE's leadership demands that strategies translate into tangible outcomes. The guiding principle of UAE governance is the happiness and well-being of its people, which informs decision-making and global engagement.
She emphasized that effective storytelling begins with listening to the communities served. Strategies should be developed collaboratively, involving stakeholders and addressing their challenges to ensure shared ownership and purposeful outcomes.
H.H. Sheikha Latifa's participation at Davos 2026 marks her second consecutive year leading the UAE delegation at the World Economic Forum, demonstrating the UAE's commitment to global dialogue and the power of culture and connection in navigating complexity.
