The head of the General Authority for Zakat, Shamsan Abu Nashtan, inaugurated today, in Malhan District, Al Mahwit Governorate, the 58th free medical camp for ophthalmology and surgery, which is implemented by the Health Care Association for Affected Communities in coordination with the Ministry of Health, and with funding from the General Authority for Zakat.
Over a period of 6 days, the camp, in cooperation and coordination with the Public Health and Population Office in the governorate, aims to conduct free examination of more than 1,500 cases and perform surgeries for 200 medical cases in the field of removing cataracts, conjunctival pterygium, and fatty bags in the eyelids at the health center in Bani al-Hajjaj.
At the inauguration, Abu Nashtan pointed out that supporting the free camp in Malhan District is part of the Authority’s projects to alleviate the suffering of poor and needy eye patients.
The head of the Zakat Authority stressed the Authority’s keenness to combat blindness by providing opport
unities for free medical examination and surgery according to a comprehensive and integrated methodology based on organizing medical camps, taking into account areas of need and population density.
