OCHA Urges Israel to Allow Humanitarian Access to North Gaza.

Gaza: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has called upon Israel to enable access to the North Gaza governorate for humanitarian operations. The UN’s access to the area was significantly restricted over the weekend.

According to Emirates News Agency, OCHA has expressed concern over the ongoing siege in North Gaza and the plight of Palestinians there. The organization has emphasized the urgent need for Israel to permit humanitarian activities to meet the extensive needs in the region.

In a report released today, OCHA highlighted that in October, humanitarian organizations had made 50 requests to Israeli authorities for access to North Gaza. Of these requests, 33 were outright rejected, and eight initially accepted requests encountered obstacles.

OCHA further reported that humanitarian access to the broader northern Gaza area has been extremely constrained. In October, there were 98 attempts to coordinate movements to the north via the checkpoint along Wadi Gaza, wit
h 85% of these movements either being denied or facing hindrances.
