Rubu’ Qarn Centre for Theatre and Performing Arts Unveils Vision for 2026

Sharjah: The Rubu' Qarn Centre for Theatre and Performing Arts, affiliated with the Rub' Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, hosted its annual 'Open Day' event at the Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah headquarters in conjunction with Arab Theatre Day. The event aimed to foster dialogue among members, attendees, staff, parents, trainers, and supporters about the future of theatre and performing arts, review achievements from 2025, and present artistic programmes and plans for 2026.

According to Emirated News Agency, the Open Day featured notable attendees, including Dr. Abdulaziz Al Noman, Member of the Board of Trustees of Rubu' Qarn Foundation; Khawla Al Hawai, Director of Sharjah Children; Sheikha Al Shamsi, Director of Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah; Khaled Al Nakhi, Director of Sharjah Capability Development - Tatweer; Mohammad Ahmed Al Ali, Director of the Strategy and Institutional Excellence Office at Sharjah Capability Development; Naji Al Shuwaikhi, Director of Theatre and Performing Arts; and Dr. Adnan Salloum, theatre arts expert at Rubu' Qarn Centre.

The event also welcomed artists and theatre specialists, including Abdullah Saleh and Aisha Abdulrahman, jury members of the Masrah Al Farjan competition. Their participation highlighted the event's importance as a collaborative platform uniting leadership and artistic expertise to bolster the theatre project and enhance its community role.

The Open Day provided an interactive platform to evaluate the Rubu' Qarn Centre's experience over the past year, assess participants' knowledge, and gather their insights on the future of theatre and performing arts. The programme also included recognising outstanding participants and honouring winners, fostering a spirit of partnership and integration in arts-based personal development.

In his address, Khaled Al Nakhi emphasised the Rub' Qarn Foundation's commitment to theatre as a vital educational and creative avenue for character building, awareness raising, and skill development in expression and teamwork among children, adolescents, and youth. Theatre is a cornerstone of the Foundation's cultural and knowledge-driven vision.

Dr. Adnan Salloum announced new theatre programmes and activities, forming the next phase's roadmap and integrating artistic, educational, and community dimensions. He detailed initiatives like Ramadan activities, Weekend Theatre, and the Rub' Qarn Theatre and Performing Arts Season, which showcases training outcomes through public performances. The programmes also aim to strengthen theatre's presence in community and educational settings with projects like the University Theatre Project and Masrah Al Farjan.

The official ceremony featured artistic and cultural segments, starting with a theatrical performance symbolising the Centre's theatrical journey. A documentary film followed, highlighting 2025's key achievements and activities. The event concluded by honouring Masrah Al Farjan project winners and recognising outstanding participants for their contributions over the past year.
