Ten Nations Urge Ceasefire in Lebanon Amid Growing Humanitarian Concerns

Abu dhabi: Canada, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and seven other countries have jointly called for 'an immediate end to the fighting in Lebanon.' The statement highlights the growing humanitarian situation and displacement crisis in the region, urging the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure from the effects of ongoing hostilities.

According to Emirates News Agency, the countries expressed their approval of the recent two-week ceasefire agreement between the United States, Israel, and Iran. However, they emphasized that a similar cessation of hostilities is urgently needed in Lebanon. The statement underlines the need for adherence to international humanitarian law to protect human dignity, minimize harm to civilians, and facilitate humanitarian aid.

The joint statement also issued a strong condemnation of actions that have resulted in the deaths of UN peacekeepers and increased risks to humanitarian personnel in southern Lebanon.
