The Intelligence Agency detachments arrested a kidnapping and robbery gang in Basra Governorate.
The Agency stated in a statement that the Intelligence Agency's detachments, represented by the Falcons Cell, received information regarding a citizen being subjected to a kidnapping by a gang that practices kidnapping and assault crimes against citizens in Dhi Qar Governorate. Immediately, the necessary judicial approvals were taken and an intelligence and technical work team was formed, accompanied by a special force. After completing all the intelligence and technical investigations were conducted and pursued in more than one governorate, and with a precise ambush, the gang members were arrested in Basra Governorate, and the ransom amount that the gang demanded from the kidnapped person’s family was also seized.
It added: The defendants' statements were recorded and they frankly admitted that they kidnapped the citizen and demanded a ransom in exchange for his release. The defendants were also referred to the investigative authorities in preparation for their appearance before the court./End
