The Union of Arab Journalists renews its position strongly rejecting all forms of liquidation of the Palestinian issue/ Expanded

Baghdad The General Secretariat of the Arab Journalists Union renewed, today, Sunday, its position strongly rejecting all forms of liquidation of the Palestinian cause.

The General Secretariat stated in a statement today that “The General Secretariat of the Union of Arab Journalists held an emergency meeting in Cairo, headed by the President of the Union, Moayad Al-Lami, and in the presence of members of the General Secretariat, the Palestinian Syndicate Nasser Abu Bakr, and the Egyptian Syndicate, Khaled Al-Balashi, where it renewed the Union’s position strongly rejecting all forms of liquidation of the Palestinian cause through the policy of ethnic extermination, attempts to forcefully displace Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan, the killing and starvation of Palestinians, and the systematic destruction of all elements of safe and decent living in Gaza and the West Bank.”

The General Secretariat rejected “reducing the Palestinian issue to humanitarian aspects and ignoring its historical depth because it is an issue of occupation and usurpation of Palestinian land that requires the Palestinians’ right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with its capital, Al-Quds Al-Sharif, by all means permitted by international laws. The General Secretariat of the Arab Journalists Union condemns the brutal crimes committed.” The occupation army has been inhabited since October 7, and the United Nations and international public opinion demand the necessity of intervention to stop the brutal Israeli aggression and provide legal, actual, and political protection for the Palestinian people.

The General Secretariat called for “the necessity of prosecuting the Israeli occupation officials for all the war crimes they committed against the Palestinians and demands that Israel be considered a terrorist entity.”

The General Union of Arab Journalists saluted the “steadfastness of the Palestinian people in harmony with the popular will of the Arab street and the Arab and international efforts being made to stop the war, implement international legitimacy resolutions, reject forced displacement, and ensure the arrival of relief aid to Gaza, and the Egyptian efforts led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to open the crossing and sustain the arrival of the required aid for Gaza."

The General Secretariat also denounces and condemns "with all force the systematic targeting of journalists through assassination and bombing of homes and the headquarters of media institutions."

The General Secretariat condemned “the occupying entity’s attempt to close media institutions and television channels within the framework of the policy of restricting and stifling press freedoms and practicing its heinous crimes without oversight or accountability, calling on the International Federation of Journalists to take joint action to expose these practices and put an end to them and to take all measures to confront this.”

The General Secretariat approved “the call of the International Federation of Journalists to hold an urgent joint meeting on targeting journalists and the need to prosecute criminals and provide relief to the families of martyrs of the press within the framework of a joint effort between the Federation of Arab Journalists, the International Federation of Journalists and the relevant regional and professional structures, and to form a joint committee to follow up on these files and take appropriate decisions regarding them.” ".

In the face of the wave of media misinformation practiced by most Israeli and Western media outlets, the General Secretariat decided to establish a permanent platform to reveal the facts, starting with what is happening in Gaza and the West Bank. The Union will monitor all material and human capabilities to make this platform a success, which it considers to be the heart of defending the ethics of the journalistic profession, and to demand that Arab media institutions stop hosting Zionist war criminals, especially those who incite the killing of Palestinians and justify Zionist crimes.”

The Secretariat rejected “the targeting of journalists on charges of bias towards the Palestinian people, and we consider it a continuation of the Israeli occupation’s targeting of journalists and professional ethics.”

The General Secretariat decided to remain “in permanent session to follow up on the situation and communicate with Arab and international organizations, to coordinate positions and actions that must be taken to support Palestinian rights.”/End
