Trump Ties US-Saudi Nuclear Deal to Abraham Accords

Washington: President Donald Trump has announced that the United States' civil nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia is contingent upon the kingdom's participation in the Abraham Accords. He emphasized that the agreement would permit Saudi Arabia to enrich uranium and construct nuclear reactors using American technology, provided the enrichment is solely for non-military purposes.

According to TRTworld.com, Trump stated on Truth Social that the civil nuclear deal is focused on non-military applications similar to those existing in Iran and the UAE. He underscored that the agreement would be approved only if Saudi Arabia commits to joining the Abraham Accords, which aim to normalize relations with Israel.

Saudi Arabia has maintained that it will not enter into the Abraham Accords without a clear agreement on a roadmap to Palestinian statehood. The Abraham Accords, brokered by Washington during Trump's first term, sought to foster diplomatic ties between Israel and several Arab nations.

The UAE, Bahrain, and Morocco have already signed the accords, while Sudan's inclusion is still pending. The US's stance on civil nuclear facilities remains supportive, provided they are non-enriched and non-military in nature.
