Abu Dhabi: Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, held discussions with Egyptian Minister of Religious Endowments Osama Al-Azhari to enhance cooperation in promoting tolerance, coexistence, and human fraternity between the UAE and Egypt. The meeting, which took place in Abu Dhabi, is part of the UAE’s ongoing commitment to fostering cultural and religious dialogue both regionally and globally.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting included Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, and Dr. Khalifa Mubarak Al Dhaheri, Director of Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities. The discussion focused on various topics of mutual interest, such as fostering cooperation across different fields, exchanging expertise, and supporting initiatives aimed at promoting social peace and cultural exchange among nations.
The two sides also addressed collaboration in tackling shared challenges in the Arab and Islamic world
s, with a particular focus on combating extremist ideologies. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak lauded Egypt’s Ministry of Religious Endowments for its role in promoting moderate thought and countering extremist rhetoric. He underscored the significance of joint efforts among religious and cultural institutions in Arab countries to present a civilised model to the world, reflecting Islam’s values of peace, coexistence, and human fraternity.
Sheikh Nahyan expressed a desire for further collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry, highlighting the historic ties between the UAE and Egypt as a strong foundation for developing joint initiatives. Minister Osama Al-Azhari, in turn, expressed appreciation for the UAE’s role in promoting tolerance regionally and internationally. He praised Sheikh Nahyan’s efforts in fostering coexistence among different cultures and religions and looked forward to continued bilateral engagements that advance shared interests and enhance human values.
