UAE Athletics Team Achieves Five Medals at Arab U20 Championship

Tunis: The UAE national athletics team increased its medal count to five at the 21st Arab U20 Athletics Championship currently underway in Tunisia, securing one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals by the conclusion of the third day.

According to Emirates News Agency, Al Yazia Tarek earned a bronze medal in the women's javelin throw with a distance of 32.79 meters. In the hammer throw event, Mohammed Adel Al Ali narrowly missed out on a podium finish, placing fourth just 2 cm short of third place. However, he set a new national record with a throw of 61.47 meters, surpassing the previous record of 60.40 meters established in 2006.

Sara Fahad secured fifth place in the 400m hurdles, while Al Yazia Tarek also achieved fifth place in her event. Rashed competed in the pole vault final and finished sixth.

Ali Ghazwan, manager of the national team, commented on the athletes' performances, noting their strong competitive efforts and the potential they showed for future success despite their youth. He emphasized Mohammed Adel Al Ali's accomplishment in breaking a 20-year-old national record.
