Abu dhabi: The UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation is poised to host the eighth edition of the UAE National MMA Championship on April 18-19 at Mubadala Arena, Zayed Sports City.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Federation has finalized all preparations necessary for the event, which will feature athletes from a range of age groups. This effort is part of a broader strategy to develop and promote the sport throughout the Emirates. The preparations encompass both organizational and technical aspects, aiming to create a competitive environment that tests the mental and physical capacities of the participants.
Competitors are set to engage across several categories, including Youth D (10-11 years), Youth C (12-13 years), Youth B (14-15 years), Youth A (16-17 years), and Adult (18 years and above). This championship format follows the Federation's established competition pathway, encouraging participation across age groups within a cohesive development system.
Mohammed Bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, a Board Member of the Federation, highlighted that the national attention on the sport reflects the UAE's vision to cultivate future talents. He noted that the tournament has continually advanced in participation and competitiveness each year. Al Dhaheri also pointed out the rising interest in mixed martial arts as a sign of growing public awareness of the sport's benefits, including character building and increased self-confidence. He emphasized that these initiatives are essential for enhancing the UAE's presence in the global combat sports arena.
