UAE President Attends Opening of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026

Abu dhabi: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The event serves as a global platform to advance practical solutions for sustainable development, gathering leaders, policymakers, and experts from around the world.

According to Emirates News Agency, the ceremony was also attended by notable figures including His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; and other high-ranking officials and international guests. The event underscores the UAE's commitment to fostering dialogue and action on sustainability by uniting governments, businesses, and investors.

During the opening, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed participants and emphasized the significance of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week as a platform for collaboration. He noted the importance of advanced technologies and the digital economy, highlighting innovation and artificial intelligence's role in enhancing efficiency and supporting economic growth.

The ceremony began with the UAE national anthem and included a film promoting system integration for a sustainable future. His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, delivered the keynote address, expressing gratitude for the UAE leadership's support for clean energy and sustainable development.

The theme for ADSW 2026, 'The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,' focuses on integrated solutions involving energy, finance, food, water, and environmental sectors to boost resilience and impact. The agenda highlights AI-enabled energy systems, climate finance, and innovations in food and water security, aiming to deepen cross-sector collaboration globally.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week continues until 15 January, featuring a comprehensive programme including the IRENA Assembly, ADSW Summit, and various forums and exhibitions such as the Youth For Sustainability Forum and the Global Climate Finance Centre Annual Meeting.
