Ukraine Imposes Sanctions on Russian Telecom Firms

Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the imposition of sanctions on 10 Russian mobile operators and internet providers, as reported by the presidential office. The move, revealed on Saturday, marks an effort to curb communications that allegedly facilitate Russian operations in Ukrainian-occupied territories.

According to Anadolu Agency, the sanctions specifically target companies believed to be providing secure communication channels for Russian authorities. These firms are accused of enabling internet access for entities aligned with Moscow's interests. Additionally, the sanctions encompass internet providers, satellite operators, and companies broadcasting Russian television channels.

Ukraine's strategy includes sharing detailed information about the sanctioned companies with international allies, seeking to foster a coordinated response to the sanctions across multiple jurisdictions. This approach aims to enhance the effectiveness of the measures and apply pressure on Russia through a united international front.
