Abu dhabi: Tom Barrack, the US ambassador to Trkiye, would also serve as special presidential envoy to both Syria and Iraq, US President Donald Trump said Sunday. Trump said Washington deepens its strategic engagement with Syria and Iraq. 'Our relationship with them continues to grow,' he wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
According to Emirates News Agency, Trump emphasized that Tom Barrack will continue his role as Ambassador to Trkiye while also taking on the responsibilities of special presidential envoy. Trump expressed confidence in Barrack's abilities, stating that he will operate with the full backing of the United States Department of State. The President praised Barrack's past performance and thanked him for his continued willingness to serve.
Barrack was confirmed as ambassador to Trkiye in 2025, marking a significant step in his diplomatic career.
