World Governments Summit Unites International Efforts on Humanitarian Issues: UNICEF Director

Abu dhabi: Lana Al Wreikat, UNICEF Director for the Gulf Area - GCC Countries, stated that the World Governments Summit serves as a crucial international platform for exchanging perspectives and uniting efforts on urgent humanitarian and development issues. This comes in light of the increasing number of crises and the escalating impact of conflicts and disasters on children and families globally.

According to Emirates News Agency, Al Wreikat emphasized UNICEF's participation in the summit as part of its commitment to collaborating with governments and international partners to devise sustainable solutions that prioritize children in global policies and decision-making. She highlighted that the summit provides a genuine opportunity to transition from dialogue to action and from promises to practical, implementable solutions.

Al Wreikat further elaborated on the strategic partnership between the UAE and UNICEF, noting significant advancements in their collaboration over recent years. This partnership has evolved beyond mere funding to include support for international diplomatic efforts, strengthening multilateral actions, and endorsing humanitarian truces in conflict zones.

She acknowledged the UAE's substantial role in recent years in supporting humanitarian responses to major crises in regions such as Gaza, Haiti, and Bangladesh, as well as in addressing humanitarian and natural disasters worldwide. Al Wreikat underscored that this support has been comprehensive, encompassing financial aid, political backing, and contributions to establishing humanitarian corridors, alongside support for early recovery and reconstruction efforts.
