Zayed National Museum Launches Falconry-Themed Cultural Programme for November and December

Abu Dhabi:Zayed National Museum, the national museum of the UAE, has launched a cultural programme for November and December under the theme 'Falconry A Living Heritage'. This programme aims to highlight one of the UAE's most enduring cultural traditions through tours, workshops, and interactive family experiences.

According to Emirates News Agency, the programme is inspired by the legacy of the UAE's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his appreciation for falconry and the natural environment. It introduces visitors to the traditions of Al Megnas, explores the relationship between falconer and falcon, and emphasizes the values of trust, respect for nature, and wildlife conservation.

Among the activities, the programme includes a Falconry Tour that explores the significance of falconry in Emirati society. Creative workshops like Eyes on the Tilwah offer insights into traditional falcon-training techniques through drawing and animation. Additionally, Houbara Colours of Camouflage delves into the adaptability of the houbara, while Memories of Al Megnas allows visitors to create postcards inspired by falconry traditions.

The museum has also planned initiatives such as Bring Your Falcon to the Museum, inviting falconers and families to celebrate falconry as a living tradition. From 3rd to 5th November, the Accessibility Conference 2026 will be hosted under the theme 'From Barriers to Belonging Accessibility in Museum Practices', focusing on inclusivity in museums.

On 7th and 8th November, A Walk Through Our History Illuminating Connections with India will explore the historical and cultural ties between the UAE and India. In December, the museum will celebrate Eid Al Etihad and its first anniversary on 3rd December with the opening of a temporary exhibition, Tracks Through Time The Camel in Society, Trade and Art.

The programme also includes A Walk Through Our History Water, Innovation and Sustainability from 8th to 10th December, coinciding with the United Nations Water Conference 2026. This tour will examine the impact of water on life in the UAE and highlight traditional and innovative practices such as the falaj irrigation system.

Further, the Archaeology of the UAE Conference 2026 is scheduled for 13th and 14th December, showcasing recent archaeological discoveries and research. Family experiences, such as A Little Walk Through Our History and Family Scavenger Hunts, will engage children and families in exploring UAE history.

The museum's accessibility programme includes Beyond Sight for visitors with visual impairments and Sensory Journeys for those with neurodevelopmental disabilities. These programmes reflect the museum's efforts to preserve Emirati heritage while engaging the community and providing opportunities to explore the UAE's history and cultural legacy.
