Minister of Economy Highlights UAE’s Economic Progress at Gateway Gulf 2024.


Manama: Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, participated in a panel discussion at the second edition of the Gateway Gulf 2024 Investment Forum, organised by Bahrain Economic Development Board in Manama on November 3-4. The minister highlighted developments in the UAE business environment and investment opportunities within the new economy sectors, as well as recent economic legislative updates in the country.

According to Emirates News Agency, Abdullah bin Touq affirmed that, under the guidance of its wise leadership, the UAE has made significant strides toward diversifying its national economy and shifting to a new economic model based on knowledge and innovation. Currently, non-oil sectors contribute 74% of the nation’s GDP, encouraging investors and entrepreneurs to expand in these areas, supporting the UAE’s goal of becoming a global hub for the new economy by the next decade, in line with the ‘We the UAE 2031’.

He stated, “Gulf countries have emerged as major economic powers with a signifi
cant impact on the global economic and investment landscape, thanks to their strategic geographical locations, outstanding infrastructure, and diverse investments across many nations.” This, he added, has established these countries as international hubs for business and investment, hosting some of the world’s largest companies.

“We are committed to supporting continued Gulf cooperation across various fields, especially in economic and investment sectors, and exploring opportunities to enhance economic integration, contributing to the resilience and advancement of Gulf economies toward greater progress and prosperity,” he said.

UAE Government Annual Meetings Kick Off in Abu Dhabi Tomorrow.


Abu Dhabi: Under the directives and chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, the 2024 UAE Government Annual Meetings commence tomorrow in Abu Dhabi. Over 500 dignitaries, including rulers, crown princes, and federal and local government officials, will be in attendance.

According to Emirates News Agency, this year’s session of the Government Annual Meetings, taking place on 5th and 6th November 2024, sees significant changes in terms of organisation, priorities, agenda, guiding principles, and objectives, as well as many frameworks it had adopted over the past sessions. Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, stated that ongoing enhancements to the UAE’s government systems reflect the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. These improvements aim to further elevate government performance and competitiveness
, establishing the UAE as the world’s most efficient government model.

The UAE maintains its proactive commitment to providing the most efficient government model. This model, emphasised since the inaugural UAE Government Annual Meetings in 2017, is further reflected in the comprehensive improvements evident in this year’s sixth session. These enhancements align with national priorities, supporting the UAE government’s strategic aims and advancing its overall effectiveness.

Key additions introduced as of this year’s Annual Meetings include national retreats, dedicated sessions with local governments, focus on empowering young national government leaders, amplifying citizen voices in the meetings, celebrating the exceptional achievements of national projects, and recognising those responsible for their implementation. These initiatives will be part of an interactive agenda with increased participation from federal and local government entities.

The 6th session of the UAE Government Annual Meetings will kick
off on Day 0, Monday, 4th November, with exclusive meetings for the Cabinet, five federal councils as well as national and local committees. With over 500 leaders and officials in federal and local entities participating this year, the agenda comprises three national retreats ahead of the first day, with a focus on national identity, family, and AI. It also includes eight panel discussions on national priorities, with the participation of heads of federal and local government entities.

The agenda includes more than ten plenary sessions addressing future national direction in economy and investment, AI, education, sports, family, and community empowerment. Three exclusive meetings will be held by the executive councils for the local governments of Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Ras Al Khaimah. Interactive exhibits and dedicated events will showcase and celebrate key achievements at the local and national levels.

ted within the “We the UAE 2031” vision and its supporting pathways, focusing on the UAE’s key future directions. The Annual Meetings aim to unify government efforts at both federal and local levels. They will address development agendas, review achievements from the past year in light of the 5th Annual Meetings’ outcomes, examine key challenges, and outline a clear implementation plan for the next phase of government initiatives.

The UAE’s decade-long vision is a comprehensive development program encompassing social, economic, and investment initiatives designed to enhance the nation’s quality of life, elevate its global standing as a key partner and influential economic hub, and showcase its successful economic model. The Annual Meetings will also address
the approval of policies aimed at continually improving government services, further strengthening the UAE’s proven track record and competitiveness.

With the participation of key national sectors and decision-makers, the meetings will focus on shaping visions and development plans to enhance quality of life and secure a brighter future for the next generation, emphasising both future readiness and achieving current objectives as the nation progresses toward the UAE Centennial 2071 plan.

Hamdan bin Mohammed Reviews AED16 Billion Main Roads Development Plan in Dubai.


Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has reviewed the ambitious AED16 billion Main Roads Development Plan for 2024-2027, set to enhance Dubai’s urban mobility and infrastructure. The plan, which includes 22 projects, aims to benefit over 6 million people and align with Dubai’s comprehensive development strategies.

According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Abdulla Al Basti, Secretary-General of The Executive Council of Dubai. They were welcomed by Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, along with several senior RTA officials. The review included a presentation on the growth of public t
ransport users, road network expansion, and infrastructure development in Dubai since 2006.

The development plan outlines significant enhancements, including a 117 percent increase in road network lane-kilometres and a 281 percent rise in the number of lanes across Dubai Creek. Vehicle bridges and tunnels saw a 729 percent increase, while pedestrian bridges and tunnels, encompassing Dubai Metro and Tram structures, grew by 396 percent. Cycling tracks experienced a substantial 6,088 percent increase, with plans to further connect coastal and external areas.

Sheikh Hamdan received briefings on key projects such as the Latifa bint Hamdan Street development, which will add capacity for approximately 16,000 vehicles per hour and reduce travel time by up to 20 percent. Other projects include the Meydan Road and Al Mustaqbal Street developments, designed to significantly increase road capacity and reduce travel time for a vast number of residents.

The review also covered RTA’s initiatives in autonomous transport
and AI integration in traffic management, along with plans to expand the Dubai Tram network with innovative trackless tram systems. These systems promise eco-friendly, cost-effective solutions for urban mobility, further complemented by the extension of dedicated bus and taxi lanes in 2025 and 2026.

Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on various technological advancements and training initiatives, including the Commercial Transport (Logisty) Platform, cycling track network enhancements, the ‘Green Road’ safe driving system, and the Smart Control Centre performance metrics. The RTA’s commitment to training Emirati talent in advanced technologies was also highlighted, showcasing efforts to sponsor education and provide specialised training.

These comprehensive efforts underscore Dubai’s commitment to transforming its transport infrastructure, enhancing urban mobility, and supporting sustainable development through strategic planning and innovative technologies.

Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Hosts ENACT Majlis in Abu Dhabi, Emphasizes Global Collaboration in AI and Energy.


Abu Dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, welcomed over 80 global leaders from the sectors of energy, technology, climate, and investment to the ENACT Majlis held at the Abu Dhabi Energy Centre. The meeting focused on strengthening regional and global strategic collaborations in artificial intelligence, advanced technology, energy, and climate to address emerging climate challenges.

According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Khaled highlighted the need for intensified global efforts to leverage economic and social opportunities from the AI-Energy-Climate Nexus. He emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise and knowledge among global partners in these fields, essential for making real progress on the ground.

The event coincided with the release of a joint report by ADNOC, Masdar, and Microsoft and preceded the ADIPEC 2024, the world’s largest energy event.

Participants included notable figures such as Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice, Brad Smith of Microsoft, Jonathan Ross of Groq, Strive Masiyiwa of Econet, and several CEOs from leading global energy companies. The Majlis aimed to align efforts and visions to apply AI solutions and technologies across sectors, seeking a tangible positive impact at local, regional, and global levels.

Dubai Autism Center Launches Early Screening Campaign to Foster Inclusive Classrooms.


Dubai: The Dubai Autism Center (DAC) has officially launched its Annual Autism Prescreening Campaign for the 2024-2025 academic year under the slogan ‘Schools for All.’ This initiative is part of the DAC’s continuous efforts to increase awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and provide early detection services for children in Dubai.

According to Emirates News Agency, Mohammed Al Emadi, Director-General of the Dubai Autism Center, highlighted that the campaign is aligned with the National Autism Policy and Decree No. (26) of 2021, which established the DAC, reinforcing the emirate’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of children with autism. ‘The Dubai Autism Center is taking proactive steps to improve early autism detection. A series of weekly workshops will empower foundation stage and kindergarten heads and teachers in Dubai to recognise the early signs of autism,’ Al Emadi said.

‘Over 500 Dubai-based early childhood centres, nurseries, and schools are joining forces to empower educators in early
ASD detection. These training workshops aim to identify children with autism early on, ensuring they receive timely support and optimal developmental outcomes,’ Al Emadi stated. ‘Since the start of 2024, the Dubai Autism Center has offered free consultations to 306 children, including 82 Emirati children. Among them, 131 received comprehensive assessment sessions, with 52 Emirati children benefiting at no cost. Additionally, the centre conducted 45 psychological evaluation sessions, underscoring its commitment to accessible autism services,’ he added.

Al Emadi emphasised that the extensive assessments and diagnostic evaluations resulted in tailored recommendations for each child. A total of 162 children, including 34 Emiratis, were advised to seek Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapy. Speech and language therapy was recommended for 109 children, with 28 Emiratis among them, while another 109 children, including 25 Emiratis, were recommended to undergo occupational therapy to enhance their developmental p
rogress.

Reflecting on the centre’s pivotal role, Al Emadi further noted that 18 children, six of whom are Emiratis, were enrolled in the Dubai Autism Center’s specialised school programme. This brings the total number of children enrolled in both the school and clinical programmes to approximately 150, including 60 Emirati children.

Noora Al Saadi, Inclusive Education Specialist at the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, highlighted the importance of raising community awareness about the early diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. She emphasised the need for clear guidance on effective ways to manage autism symptoms, which can help accelerate children’s learning, growth, and development, ensuring that all young children’s needs are met and that inclusive education services are of high quality.

She said, ‘We fully support the efforts of our colleagues at the Dubai Autism Center through the 2024-2025 campaign on early autism indicators. We encourage educational institutions to join this campaign, as
it plays a vital role in helping teachers at early childhood centres and schools recognise and respond to the early signs of autism, aligning with Dubai’s vision and its goals to be a truly inclusive city for people of determination.’

Brand Dubai Unveils Massive 11th Edition of Flag Garden at Jumeirah Beach.


Dubai: Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, has launched the 11th edition of the Flag Garden at Jumeirah Beach, Umm Suqeim 2. This year, the Flag Garden features an impressive display of 11,600 flags arranged to form aerial portraits of two prominent leaders, celebrating their contributions to the nation’s development.

According to Emirates News Agency, the 11th edition of the Flag Garden is the largest ever organized by Brand Dubai, spanning 75 meters in length and 104 meters in height. The unique design and symbolism of the Garden reflect the deep loyalty and sense of belonging felt by the people of the UAE towards their leadership, who have played a pivotal role in transforming the country into a global leader. The Flag Garden also serves as a symbol of unity among the Emirati people and is an expression of national pride during key celebrations.

Mahra Alyouha, Project Manager of Flag Garden, highlighted that over the past decade, the Flag Garden has become a landmark ev
ent attracting thousands of visitors annually. The 2024 edition of the Flag Garden aligns with significant national occasions, including UAE Flag Day on 3 November and Eid Al Etihad on 2 December. The Garden will remain open to citizens, residents, and tourists until 10 January 2025.

Through hands-on training aimed at building both creative and technical expertise, participants will gain the diverse skills needed to create impactful content that keeps pace with rapid changes in the digital media landscape.

Bin Touq further said that the ‘Economic Content Creators Programme’ enhances the competitiveness of business media by providing an advanced platform for training content creators and journalists and familiarising them with the best experiences and practices in this field, enabling them to analyse economic events more thoroughly.

The programme addresses the challenges that specialised content creators encounter in key sectors across the Arab world. Developed in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Economy, the programme is tailored for emerging media talent and content creators specialising in economy and seeks to equip them to produce high-quality content that incorporates the latest technological innovations in the industry.

The ‘Dubai Content Creators Programme’ offers comprehensive training that covers the essential aspects of content creation, empowering participants with a diverse set of skills to enhance their professional media abilities. The core areas of focus in the programme include deve
loping storytelling and creative writing skills, where participants learn to build engaging narratives that captivate audiences and encourage interaction and engagement.

In the area of audience engagement on digital platforms, participants will learn strategies for designing content that effectively engages audiences across various platforms, in addition to understanding methods for measuring impact and analysing the target audience.

The programme also covers multimedia design and production skills, equipping participants to work with video, audio, and visual design techniques, and teaching them how to integrate these elements to enhance the power of the message being delivered. Participants will also be trained in the creative use of infographics to clarify information and improve content quality.

Within the focus area of creative content production, the programme empowers content creators to develop innovative content that resonates with audiences and achieves the desired impact.

The programme will also
provide training in research and analysis techniques, enabling participants to gain skills in different research strategies and use multiple sources for gathering information, which enhances the credibility and quality of their content.

The ‘Dubai Content Creators Programme’ aims to develop a new generation of content creators equipped to navigate future challenges in the media industry. With the growing demand for high-quality digital content, the programme enhances participants’ ability to adapt to technological developments, work across multiple platforms, and create content that aligns with the diverse expectations of audiences.

Furthermore, the programme encourages collaboration between local and international content creators, enabling participants to benefit from diverse experiences, exchange ideas, and foster creativity on a broader scale, thus strengthening Dubai’s position as a global hub for media innovation.

Mahfoudha Abdullah, Specialist, Media Talent Development at Dubai Press Club, said that
registration for the ‘Economic Content Creators Programme’ is now open.

She added that applicants should be between 20 and 45 years old, proficient in both Arabic and English, have basic knowledge of digital platforms, and commit to adhering to the training schedule and attending the training workshops in-person.

New York: The UAE Space Agency represented the United Arab Emirates in crucial United Nations General Assembly sessions on outer space. In these meetings, the UAE reiterated its commitment to international cooperation, highlighted by its significant achievements such as the Emirates Mission to the Asteroid Belt, its contribution to the Artemis Lunar Gateway, and the upcoming moon exploration mission. These efforts reflect the UAE’s dedication to advancing science and technology, contributing to space exploration, and expanding scientific knowledge.

According to Emirates News Agency, during the session, the UAE emphasized the essential role of space capabilities in addressing global challenges, including environmental monitoring, climate resilience, and food security enhancement. The UAE has developed a program that utilizes satellite data to track destruction caused by extreme weather events worldwide and create early warning systems to mitigate future climate change impacts.

Reaffirming its commitment to
the peaceful use of outer space, the UAE stressed the importance of upholding this principle. It ensures that technological resources and knowledge gained through space activities are used for the benefit of all humankind and promote peace and sustainable development on Earth.

Additionally, the US-UAE Business Council hosted a reception in honor of the UAE delegation, offering a platform to engage with the global space community. Abu Dhabi: The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has urged motorists in the UAE to adhere to traffic regulations due to the potential for fog formation, which could impact driving conditions.

According to Emirates News Agency, NCM issued a statement today cautioning against deteriorating horizontal visibility. The advisory highlights that visibility may decrease significantly over some coastal and internal areas from 00:05 until 09:30 tomorrow. Motorists are advised to exercise caution during these hours to ensure safety on the roads.

UAE Participates in G20 Health Ministers’ Meeting in Brazil.


Brazil: The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), participated in the G20 Health Ministers Meeting and G20 Joint Finance and Health Ministers meeting hosted by Brazil from 29-31 October. The meetings aimed to discuss global health challenges, identify strategic priorities, and develop long-term plans to build resilient health systems, contributing to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE delegation was led by Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention. The delegation included Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al Serkal, Director-General of Emirates Health Services (EHS), Nasser Al Badour, Assistant Under-Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Dr Abdullah Al Naqbi, Executive Director of Supporting Health Services at EHS, and other officials. Saleh Ahmed Alsuwaidi, UAE Ambassador to Brazil, also attended the high-level discussions, which focused on climate change-related health challenges, health equi
ty, the One Health approach, antimicrobial resistance, epidemic preparedness, and research and development to strengthen health systems.

In a joint meeting with finance ministers, discussions explored ways to enhance epidemic preparedness funding, intensify investment in sustainable development goals, and ensure better integration between the health and finance sectors to strengthen collaborative efforts in addressing global health challenges.

The UAE’s involvement in the G20 Health Ministers Meeting highlights its commitment to international collaboration and supporting global health systems, aligning with the UAE Centennial 2071 goals of enhancing life quality and fostering a prosperous future for coming generations.

Al Owais stated that the UAE prioritizes the One Health approach within its national health policies, adopting a forward-looking strategy

To support this, the UAE is accelerating efforts to enhance governance, implement effective policies and legislation, invest in research, leverage technology, and build integrated surveillance systems to address infectious and zoonotic diseases.

He commended the G20 nations for integrating this approach into global health policies, emphasizing its role in combating antibiotic resistance and neglected tropical diseases while also strengthening health systems’ preparedness for future emergencies.

Al Owais also acknowledged the World Health Organisation (WHO) for promoting equity and sustainability in global health. He reaffirmed the UAE’s strong support for WHO’s mission and expressed the nation’s commitment to contributing to global efforts for a healthier and more sustainable future.

Al Owais emphasized the significance of activating joint action, stating that international coordination and cross-sector integration are essential for enhancing health systems’ efficiency and finding effective solutions to global challenges that no single country or sector can tackle alone.
