Abu Dhabi:The global energy industry must fundamentally reconsider its approach to building, protecting, and delivering secure energy, following a year marked by unprecedented disruptions, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber emphasized today. He made these remarks while addressing attendees at ADIPEC 2026 in Abu Dhabi, highlighting critical vulnerabilities in international supply chains.
According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Al Jaber, who serves as the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and the Managing Director and Group CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), stressed the importance of preparedness in navigating an uncertain global landscape. He noted that energy security, once a specialized topic, has now become a concern for every industry and household.
Dr. Al Jaber outlined strategic steps for strengthening resilience in the energy sector, citing ADNOC's new collaboration with OpenAI and G42 as an example of partnerships that could enhance the security and productivity of energy systems. He highlighted the drastic depletion of global supply buffers, pointing to a significant drop in diesel and LNG stocks as a result of recent disruptions.
He further delineated five key actions the energy industry should adopt, ranging from expanding strategic storage to enhancing operational intelligence and fostering partnerships that endure under pressure. Dr. Al Jaber praised the UAE's proactive strategies, which were established long before the recent disruptions, as instrumental in maintaining resilience.
The ADIPEC 2026 event, supported by UAE leadership, is drawing a record-breaking attendance and features numerous industry experts and exhibitors. Dr. Al Jaber concluded by reaffirming the UAE's commitment to dialogue and diplomacy in stabilizing global energy markets.
