Kuwait City: The 20th edition of the Arab Media Forum has officially commenced under the theme 'Media Challenges amid Technological Advancement and Digital Transformation,' under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of Kuwait. The event, which runs until May 12, has attracted participation from ministers of information, media professionals, journalists, academics, and content creators.
According to Emirates News Agency, this year's forum celebrates the United Arab Emirates as the Guest of Honour, acknowledging the UAE's significant standing and the excellence of its national media. The UAE's media is highlighted as an inspiring model that is both professional and impactful, rooted in national values promoting human fraternity, peace, and tolerance. With innovative tools based on advanced technology and artificial intelligence, the UAE delivers responsible and purposeful media content.
The UAE is represented by a high-level media delegation from both the public and private sectors, reflecting the nation's strategic focus on building a future-oriented media model driven by innovation and technology. This participation underscores the UAE's commitment to supporting regional and international media initiatives, aiming to bolster the role of Arab media amid rapid global digital transformations.
The forum's sessions started with the 'Youth Forum', organised in collaboration with the Public Authority for Youth, Ruqi Club, and Mahara Club in Kuwait. Content creators from the UAE and the wider Arab region participated, sharing experiences in crafting media content that resonates with contemporary audiences.
Madi Al-Khamis, Secretary-General of the Arab Media Forum, informed Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the UAE was selected as the Guest of Honour due to the impressive progress and development of its national media, which aligns with the forum's focus on technological advancement, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence. He highlighted that UAE media is recognized for its advanced use of technology, AI tools, and adaptability to global digital trends.
Al-Khamis further noted that the forum's sessions address the challenges and opportunities of digital shifts, exploring how technologies can enhance the global reach of Arab media. The discussions also stress the importance of media in supporting cultural diversity and preserving Arab identity.
